Well, not a good start for me for the 1st Bay Co. Bass Club tournament of the year. Usually it's not a problem for me to get a limit a Deerpoint even if it's 5 that weigh 5 pounds. But not this day. I had went one day the week before the tourny just for a couple hours, picks up a couple every place I stopped and went home. To make a short story even shorter, about 1:30 I finally felt that first tap set the hook (while sitting down on my rear end) set the hook and after realizing this was a good one, and that I should have stood up to set the hook, it was gone. On my way in I stopped by a dock and caught my only keeper (points). Realiable Sam "Whackey" Fifer put it on us with 5 that weighed over 13 pounds. Sam said he found them schooling first thing in the morning. Al "Flippin" Ramsey was 2nd with over 10 lbs and newcomer to the club Dave "Senko" Fischer took 3rd with 9+ lbs. Not sure how they caught em'.

Well, after taking a beating in the club tournament, Tuesday afternoon I went back to Deerpoint to try and get some confidence back. It worked. I was there about 3 hours and caught 7 decent keepers missed a couple and one that jump off right at the boat, easily 8 pounds plus. That was a good 3 hours.

Welcome aboard k dawg. You're not going to get many anglers (if any) to tell you where to go catch bass at Deerpoint. Because we all have tournaments their and it's hard enough to catch them anyway. But the fish should be moving up right now getting ready to spawn. So find you some shallow water with sandy bottoms and throw soft plastics. Also a rouge will do well for bass that are in the shallows and just cruising. They are feeding and getting ready to make their beds. Good luck!
