I'm trying to put together a tourny for our high school booster club , I'm sure standard rules apply but can anybody help with some info on payback and such .It will be on the apalachicola river in about 3 months. when we get it together I'll ask Alan to post the announcement I would hope for 20 - 30 boats . Were going to try to make it a little more than the typical launch, wiegh , go home . Such as maybe a fish fry after or something of the sort. Thanks and any info you could forward will be greatly apprieciated.

The standard payback is usually 1/5 - 1/6 - or 1/7. Which means for example: 1/5 would be paying one place for every 5 boats that fish. And on boat six you would pay back 2 places and on boat 11 you would pay back 3 places, etc..... 1/6 is generally what I use. But if it's a benifit tournament it's a little different. I can make you a payout chart. Would need to know entry fee and what percent you are paying back.
Sounds like a great idea mudfish. Count me in...Is it for Franklin County High School? I can get plenty of oysters and fresh shrimp for after the tourney.
Thats right mossy-back it is for Franklin County Sea Hawks, I talked with the head coach Monday who mentioned it to me , he said he had done some on eufala when he coached in AL. As for the pay back I was thinking of a guaranted 3 places which would be funded by donations from local businesses somthing like 400/300/200 and a 50$ entry to encourage anglers to fish one man per boat. so money from entry and fish fry would go to the kids . Not a huge payback but you have to remember why your doing it .. the kids . Thanks and any ideas you would like to share are very welcome.

It still would depend a little on how many boats you have. I know it's a fund raiser and I'm all for them if the cause is right. For example if you had 50 boats and only paid 3 places, there would be a lot of upset people. Were if you had 20 - 25 boats and paid 3 places that would be fine. So depending on how many boats show you may have to take some of the entry fee money to pay another place or two. Kow what I mean? That's just my 2 cents worth.
Good point . Thats why Im askig these questions and i thank you for your 2 cents . So I ll look at a 1 / 5 pay back with guaranteed 1st - 3rd Ill let you know more as it transpires
