I have been to this lake about 20 times and still have not caught a bass. I think I have thrown everything in my huge arsenal and only gotten bites. The fish will not take it. Any advice on this lake would be great. I’m not a tournament fisherman, just trying to get out and have fun. Thanks fellers. “Fitz”

That would be frustrating. There has been many times I've been skunked at Deerpoint, but not 20 times in a row. I'll tell you what I did the other day when I had 13 pounds at the Deerpoint Team Trail. Kind of got lucky. The wind was blowing very hard, so all I did was go to the dam end of the lake get out my rattle trap and let the wind blow me down the lake bank. Then cranked up, went back up the lake and started over. Now, I threw it a million times. The only time I put it down was to give my arm a break from reeling so fast. Probably caught 15 + keepers doing that. Give it a shot and give us a report.

I'll give it a try. Any specific color? I've thrown silver & blue, red, and a couple others. I didn't throw it all day though. Thanks! "Fitz"

If you give up you'll never catch one and the fish will win. Try shiners and I'll bet you catch a couple.

Should have been there last night (Tuesday night shoot-out). Thery were biting. Three hour tourny, we caught 7 keepers a couple more that did not keep and three more jumped off. They bit Senko's, Horny Toad and just for fun got out a Tiny Torpedo and two grabbed it. It the old saying "cuz they bit yesterday".

Well, I finally caught 2 close keepers. I went out one afternoon and threw a spinner bait till my arms were sore from throwing and fingers bleeding from retrieving. But I did it!!!! Its been about a month since that personal victory and its back to skunkville for bass. But I have been slaying chain pickerel. Although they are not those beautiful bass that I think about catching every minute of the day, the pickerel sure do put up a good fight. I will continue my quest to find the bass in that lake! Anyone want to go show me how its done?

As for where I fish, I normally stay around the dam area. And over by what I think is the water treatment place. I'm not to familar with the lake and names of the creeks and such. I've been all over the lake fishing docks. I'm just afraid of messing my boat up. I was running about 60 mph one day thinking I was in about 8 foot of water. Well when I stopped I was actaully in about 2 foot of water. It scared me. I've only had a boat for about 6 months and I'd like to have for a good long while. I started out with a Ranger. I dont want to mess it up. But I'm going further and further out each time I go out. I guess you can say I'm still a noob when it comes to fishing from a boat. [/img]

I will be going to deer point Tuesday morning to give it another shot. gonna try some finesse fishing. Some creature and trick worm action. Never used them there. I kill them in the pond by my house. I think I just need to slow down.

Well, I made some progress in my slow fishing, I had a nice 3 or 4 pounder on, but i got so excited I didn't get a good hook set. (Wasn't really expecting the bite.) I got it to where I could see it enough for her to spit it out at me. WOW, what a feeling though! I did catch another pickerel on a rattle trap. very annoying. And I finished the day with my boat motor not starting. So I had to troll about 3 miles maybe 4 back to the ramp. I took the Ranger straight to the repair shop. told me 2 weeks till they can get to it. I guess its that time of the year, everyone getting boats fixed and serviced. Anyone ever use the boat repair place on Transmitter? Thats where I took it. Anyway, Thats how my day went on the lake. Fitz out.
