I'll be there, I believe I'm #28. Last year there were around 125 boats. Al R., my partner (Fishing that is) went last weekend and said number were no problem, plenty of 2 - 3 pounders, but that won't get a check. Having an 8 pounder and not getting lunker is tough. With a tournament that big they should pay at least 2 lunkers. My Annual October tournament, with a $20 lunker fee, I pay 4 lunkers. Last year was something like, $500, $350, $250 & $100 and that not bad for $20. Spreading the money out a bit is a good thing. See ya Saturday.

that good to hear on the #'s. a lot of people had a tuff time last year and i heard only like 40 boats weighed-in. not sure if that is true or not. i'm heading down tomorrow night and will pre-fish thursday and friday. i haven't fished it since last years tournament. did your partner say how the water level was and what the temp was. i can't find an updated fishing report anywhere.

Well i don't know about anyone else but we didn't fair to well. practice went ok, we got some nice fish but come the day of the tournament it was like someone turned the switch off. you really had to work to get a bite. at least we did. only got one for 3lbs. seemed like they were still shallow and didn't want anything fast. we slowed down and even tried down sizing but nothing. i was shocked that 16lbs 8oz took it, and big fish was only 6lbs. big change from last year. always next year.

We pretty much had our game plan up until a couple days before the tournament when we listen to where someone else had really caught them. So we changed and went there. That's usually a mistake but you never know. I did have two break off, back to back when setting the hook. Then I checked my one month old flurocarbon line and broke it with my hands. Evil or Very Mad Then my next cast (with a different combo) was a keeper. So that should have been 3 keepers. Late in the day we went to where we were going to start and caught one almost 4 lbs and another good explosion. To little too late. Come to find out some of the top weights were there in the morning. Had a good time anyway. Won some good prizes in the drawings they had. It's a great tournament, 136 boats, feed you breakfast and dinner (no cost), free water, goodies were giving away, local boat dealers had brought new rigs for people to look at. Pam Martin-Wells was there. One of the best tournament around!
